SAUDI ARABIA: Public Safety and Homeland Security solutions providers Nurizon Corporation have unveiled their latest and most advanced in vehicle mobile computing system to date in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Security multinational Nurizon Corporation, has launched the "Microbus" in vehicle computing solution to both public and private sector organisations in a recent press conference at their Riyadh Regional Office.

The Microbus Computing System, which is manufactured in the United Kingdom, allows vehicle owners to have the full power of a desktop PC, installed into their vehicle, and is custom build to withstand the harsh and demanding requirements of the vibrations associated with driving on rugged and difficult terrain.

Mobile Computers, or "In Vehicle Workstations" as they are often referred to, means that the ever more demanding requirements of mobile work forces are more closely being met. The Microbus vehicle PC's allow users to browse the internet, receive and send emails, transmit company information, receive and update work orders from Company Headquarters, as well as control vehicle electronics and surveillance equipment from within the vehicle.

Until recently, companies with mobile data requirements, have resorted to installing "Ruggedised Laptops" into vehicles, and this has proved extremely time consuming, and prohibitively expensive. Bill Russell, Group Engineering Director for Nurizon Corporation commented that "Our customers now appreciate the ability to be able to have a reliable and cost effective in vehicle computing solution, which is specifically tailored to their requirements". Bill went on to add that "The problems associated with having laptops in vehicles, has been wide ranging and we have found that the Microbus systems are more advanced, and reliable when it comes to on demand mobile processing requirements".

Customers can choose from a wide range of accessories with the Microbus System, including Anti-Glare Touch Screens, Multiple Video Inputs, Wi-Fi and 3G/GPRS Cards, Backlit Ruggedised Keyboards, Printers and numerous other additional extras.

Christopher Riddell, Chief Executive Officer for Nurizon Corporation stated that "Nurizon Corporation is delighted to be able to offer the Microbus systems to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, and this demonstrates our continued commitment to the security agencies and private sector organisations in the territory".

Applications and usage for the Microbus System from Nurizon Corporation, ranges from Courier and Delivery Companies, to Police Command and Control and Mobile Licence Plate Recognition Systems (MLPR).

Licence Plate Recognition, which is often also referred to as ANPR (Advanced Number Plate Recognition) or LPR (Licence Plate Recognition), provides the security and law enforcement agencies with the most accurate and instant verification of vehicle ownership and latest intelligence information, without the need of a police officer having to pick up a telephone or radio, to make a check on vehicle occupants manually. Officers are automatically alerted by an audible alarm, and a message on the touchscreen installed in the vehicle, whenever a vehicle "hit" is discovered.

Licence Plate Recognition technology works by installing a high resolution camera, with infra red capabilities, either on the roof, or behind the windshield of the police vehicle. The video cameras connect to the Microbus In Vehicle Computer, which uses advanced high powered software to process the images and verify them real-time against the national and local crime and intelligence databases, using a secure encrypted wireless link to the Control Centre Headquarters. Over 4 vehicles every second can be processed and checked from inside the officers vehicle.
